Sr. Services Learning Trainer

Primary Function of Position: The Technical Trainer is primarily responsible for delivering instructor-led, virtual, and hands-on technical training for new hires and experienced service personnel across da Vinci, Ion, and Digital Portfolio technologies. The role supports direct and indirect markets and ensures learners develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safe work practices required to install, troubleshoot, service, and sustain complex robotic systems. The primary focus of this position is technical training delivery, technical mentoring, learner assessment, and training-system readiness. This role uses approved training content and service procedures to provide consistent and effective technical instruction. Roles and Responsibilities: Deliver technical training as the primary responsibility of the role, including classroom instruction, virtual sessions, demonstrations, hands-on labs, assessments, and coaching. Train new hires and experienced service personnel across direct and indirect markets using approved course materials, service procedures, and delivery standards. Serve as a technical facilitator for da Vinci, Ion, and Digital Portfolio training programs Conduct assessments and evaluations as defined by course protocol Prepare training systems, tools, and technical materials to ensure safe, reliable, and consistent training delivery. Maintain required technical training documentation, service procedures, lab activities, certifications, and training records. Communicate course readiness, technical risks, resource needs, and delivery status proactively to the Technical Training Manager Provide technical mentoring and hands-on support to learners and peer trainers through knowledge sharing and delivery observations. Maintain technical proficiency across multiple platforms to support scheduled and on-demand regional training needs. Provide practical feedback to the Technical Training Manager on learner readiness, recurring technical knowledge gaps, and delivery needs. Coordinate the technical readiness, configuration, maintenance status, and safe use of training systems, tools, and lab equipment in the Freiburg office. Mentor and support learners and peer trainers through technical knowledge sharing, delivery observations, and consistent course execution. Deliver training through approved instructor-led, virtual, self-directed, and hands-on formats based on business needs. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Clear and effective communication with strong facilitation skills A passion for technical training excellence  Strong hands-on technical capability and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task Self-starter with ability to take ownership of responsibilities with minimal direction¨ Ability to self-manage course preparations, training schedules, and delivery deadlines 3+ years of experience in technical training, field service, technical support, systems engineering, or directly servicing complex capital equipment; experience with Intuitive products is strongly preferred. Experience working in SAP, SFDC, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and technical service documentation systems A proven track record of problem solving, hands-on involvement to identify issues, and seeing solutions through to completion Experience delivering technical instruction, onboarding, coaching, demonstrations, or structured technical knowledge transfer. Demonstrated hands-on experience installing, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, or supporting complex electromechanical, robotic, software-enabled, or networked systems. Associate degree or higher with coursework relevant to engineering, electronics, mechatronics, information technology, manufacturing, technical education, or a related field. Equivalent relevant technical experience may be considered. Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Technical Training, Field Service, Technical Support, Systems Engineering, or service of complex technical equipment. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 5 years in the medical device industry with a field service, technical support, systems engineering, or technical training background. Da Vinci product and service knowledge Ion product and service knowledge Current or previous experience as a Field Service Engineer or Technical Support Engineer. Experience supporting service organizations. Strong technical background in complex electromechanical, robotic, software-enabled, and networked systems.
