JOB DESCRIPTION The Social Media Content Intern helps ONC reach and engage audiences by developing short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels and TikTok. The role prioritizes videos that are entertaining, accessible, and educational while staying connected to ONC’s mission of reducing partisanship and encouraging effective solutions to America’s challenges. The ideal candidate is comfortable appearing on camera, understands how social content captures attention, and can translate civic and policy topics into videos people want to watch and share. RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop ideas and create short-form videos for ONC’s Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other relevant social channels. • Appear on camera and deliver content in a natural, confident, and engaging way. • Create hooks, scripts, talking points, and storyboards that make civic topics approachable. • Film and edit videos using suitable mobile or desktop tools, including captions, cuts, transitions, and platform-native formats. • Track current social media trends, formats, sounds, and audience behaviors, and assess which trends fit ONC’s voice and mission. • Balance entertainment with education, accuracy, and nonpartisan framing. • Collaborate with writers, designers, and podcast team members to repurpose ideas and content across platforms. • Participate in feedback and revisions, and deliver content on agreed timelines QUALIFICATIONS • Comfortable appearing in front of a camera and speaking to an audience. • Some experience creating videos or social media content through school, personal projects, clubs, or work. • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Reels, and current short-form video trends. • Ability to make content concise, visually engaging, and easy to follow. • Creativity, reliability, openness to feedback, and interest in ONC’s mission. • Ability to check claims and present political or civic topics fairly and accurately. WORK ENVIRONMENT Remote collaboration primarily through Zoom, Slack, and Google Workspace. Applicants should have access to a device capable of recording video; editing tools may be discussed with the team. The intern must commit through the end of the current semester. An extension may be available based on performance and organizational needs. COMPENSATION This is an unpaid internship position. BENEFITS Flexible schedule, college credit where approved by the applicant’s institution, professional networking, and resume-building experience. Portfolio development may be possible with ONC approval. All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
